On behalf of the Florida Fishing Academy, a nonprofit afterschool fishing education program benefiting at-risk kids throughout Palm Beach County. FFA uses fishing as a vehicle for delivering effective life, environmental and social skills into a youth-oriented, hands-on sports angling curriculum that has, to date, helped to change the lives of thousands of deserving children. Each of this year’s four announced Fun-Raisers will be held on the third Thursday of the month from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the popular Tiki Bar at Crane’s BeachHouse Hotel, which is located at 82 Gleason Street in Delray Beach, just one block south of Atlantic Avenue and one block west of the Atlantic Ocean.

On behalf of the HOW Foundation, a Delray-based nonprofit organization that increases awareness about the medicinal benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and raises supplementary funds for helping individuals receive treatment for HBOT indications not typically covered by insurance. The organization is currently focused on helping veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder.  Additionally, it is providing access to HBOT for the healing of sports injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, Autism, and more.  Working collaboratively with supporters, the HOW Foundation provides treatment grants and provides hope for those in our communities to lead a better quality of life. On behalf of the Gold Coast Public Relations Council and PRSA – Palm Beach, this will be the eighth annual PR YAK-YAK party that attracts numerous public relations and marketing professionals as well as local print, broadcast and online journalists. Any net profit from this Fun-Raiser will be split evenly between GCPRC, the largest independent organization of PR & marketing professionals in South Florida, and PRSA-Palm Beach, which is dedicated to providing programs, tools and activities that benefit its members both professionally and personally. For the third year in a row, 10 local restaurants will compete for the coveted title of Best Bite on the Ave by offering free samples from their menu. Attendees will select the winner by dropping a special token in their favorite restaurant’s fish bowl. Attendees will receive their first token (along with five free raffle tickets) upon paying the $5 admission charge, and will receive another token every time he/she buys a drink (alcoholic or not) at the Crane’s BeachHouse Hotel Tiki Bar. At the end of the evening, the restaurant with the most tokens will be declared Best Bite on the Ave winner for 2014. Previous winners include Tryst Gastropub in 2013 and Prime Delray in 2012.

This year’s final THIRD THURSDAY FUN-RAISER will benefit two patriotic nonprofit organizations: the HOW Foundation, which works with wounded warriors, and Project Holiday, which supports local families who have loved ones serving in the armed forces around the world.

All of this year’s THIRD THURSDAY FUN-RAISERS are open to the public. Admission to the events in June and September are $25 per person, and for PR Yak-Yak it is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Attendees will each receive one free drink ticket good for beer, wine or soft drinks; additional drinks will be available at happy hour prices.  Crane’s BeachHouse Hotel will also provide an array of amazing hors d’oeuvres and tasty treats, and live music will be performed.
